Duty and Honor

Growing up as a military dependant, or better yet, an "Army Brat", I feel as though military service for myself was a fore drawn conclusion. I spent much of my childhood expecting to enlist; and so I did. This was not done out of compulsion but from a sense of duty, or honor as my dad modeled for me my entire life. I enlisted in the Army Reserves during my senior year of highschool. I transferred to the Florida Army National Guard after basic training and during my first year in college. My service lasted five years, but that time of service shaped much of my adult life moving forward. Duty and Honor, still driving motivators for my missionary service, my classroom teaching, and most importantly as husband and father. My hope is that as I serve my community today that same duty and honor that drove me so many years ago would fuel my efforts moving forward and inspire others in this community to do the same.
